more about the PTA

The PTA is run by parents and carers of pupils at Montpelier Primary School. It is a Parent-Teacher Association and our aim is to improve the childrens experience at the school. This is achieved by supporting extra resources for the school where there is insufficient funding, helping improve the school grounds and any other aspect of school life we can get involved in. We organise events such as the Summer fete and Christmas Disco, and raise funds throughout the year. We are a charity and rely totally on volunteers, so please help out if you can. You have already by reading this!

The PTA is the best way to find out what is happening at school and is the best place to have your say in the way it is run.
The committee is made up of volunteers, who take up places such as secretary, treasurer, chair and co-chair, and several other positions. Without a committee the PTA would not be legal and could not continue.

We are a registered charity and a non-profit making organization. All money raised goes back to the school each year for things which will directly benefit the children.

We have recently donated £16,500 to fund 30 new computers for the schools IT Suite. As well as giving £1100 towards 'Arts Week 2005'

For example this last year (2003/4) we donated over £11,000 to the school which purchased the following items:-

· Public Address System - £2,700
· School trip subsidies - £2,319
· Heinemann maths scheme - £2,040
· Decoration of school hall - £2,000
· Curtains for main hall - £1,889
· Sports equipment - £699

In the past we have enabled the school to fund Playground Painting , Book Funding, School Trip subsidies, Heinemann Maths scheme, Computer Funding and many other items and services.

These are all things the school would have been unable to purchase without the P.T.A. fundraising efforts. Parents are encouraged to join the PTA committee and are elected annually. There are also class representatives for each class in the school
